The 1920s

At the beginning of February, 1920, twenty-three-year-old Martin is living with his parents, Diedrich, age 63 and Caroline, age 59. They are living next door to his Grandpa’s sister and brother-in-law, Meta and Henry Oetting, Frank Hercules and his family and Martin’s brother Emil and his wife, Laura.
Martin Louis George Ehlmann married Clara Heitgerd of Harvester, May 30, 1920, at Zion Lutheran Church. Witnesses were Hugo Boehmer and Adelia Heitgerd. Clara is the daughter of Johann Theodore “Tate” A. Heitgerd and Anna Helene Boenker of Harvester. (Tate and “Minnie” were married Oct. 9, 1898 and their witnesses were Otto Boehmer and Linda Heitgerd.)
Clara was the oldest child in her family and Martin was the youngest in his.
During the 1920s, Martin and Clara had the following children:
Harvey Dietrich, 1921
Kurt Gustave, 1923
Marlan Edwin Ralph,1925
Francis Henry, 1926
Lucile Wilhelmina Linda, 1928
Jeanette Adele, 1929,
Arlie Herman and Carlton came in the next decade.
