Monday, August 8. We knew some of the things we wanted to do and what days we wanted to do them, so on Monday, we were at loose ends. We decided to drive back up to Springfield and go to Fantastic Caverns. This cavern was different from some of the others we’d gone through because this one was on a tram, a definite bonus for my lazy bones. I knew the Great Hunter really enjoyed caves, and this one did not disappoint him. I’m kind of like, you’ve seen one cave, you’ve seen them all. Stalagtites hang tight to the ceiling and Stalagmites might reach the ceiling from the floor. (All tour guides tell you this.)

Tuesday, August 9 we decided to go to Shepard of the Hills Inspiration Tower and Farm Tour

Branson has to thank the author of the book Shephard of the Hills for the vacation destination it is today. Back in 1907, Harold Bell Wright wrote the book “Shepard of the Hills” about the people and this place he loved, his readers were so enthralled by his descriptions of this beautiful land that they began flocking to the area to see it for themselves. The Historic Farm Tour gives the visitors a first-hand look at the farm where the book was written. Bonus, this was on a tram also.

Wednesday, Aug. 10–Kayaking and “Jesus” at Sight and Sound Theater

Thursday, Aug 11–Top of the Rock Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum and Shepard of the Hills Outdoor Drama

By Friday, we were ready to come home. We missed our fur babies, our Millie was with our son, but the little furry felines were left at home to be looked in on by my granddaughter. I probably missed them more than they missed me.
