Mondays–V5E18–Flowers, History and Baseball

The Great Hunter and I had the opportunity this last week to enjoy some time together away from the house, something we don’t do nearly enough of. On Sunday, we went with my brother and his husband to the Missouri Botanical Gardens:

and on Tuesday we attended a 1904 World’s Fair Exhibit at the Missouri History Museum.

Two excursions in one week! That’s almost a record for us.

On Monday, My grandson hit the game-winning RBI for his team at his last at-bat at his last home game of his Senior year. I can only say that I was beside myself with joy.

He has worked so incredibly hard these last couple of years. He was so excited when he made the JV baseball team his sophomore year and when he made the Varsity team his junior year, he was just as excited.  He’s going on to play baseball in college on a partial scholarship. I will hopefully get to see him play but for now, it’s the end of an era for me.

Baseball has been a part of my life since I was young and my dad coached my brother’s baseball team and I was the scorekeeper. Dad was an avid Cardinals fan. One of my fondest memories of my parents is seeing them walk hand in hand up the ramp at the old Busch Stadium.

Three of my children played city ball and my granddaughter played softball. I’ve been spending my summers watching ball for probably forty years. My grandson will be playing select ball this summer, but after that…I guess I’ll have to start watching my great-niece.

I ended my week by getting a long overdue pedicure. I love painted toenails.
