Happy Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. Our sun rose at 5:36 a.m. and set at 8:28 p.m. It’s also the first day of summer and boy, what a summer this is expected to be. Temperatures are already in the upper 90s and it’s supposed to stay that way for the next week or two. I’ve got my fingers crossed that my new grass will make it through with enough watering (I hate to see what my water bill will be).
The Great Hunter has been diligently working on repairing the cables on the hydraulic lifts on our pop-up camper. We took it to the pros to fix it, and they said it was unfixable. But, the Great Hunter is determined that he can fix it. We’re supposed to go on a camping trip in September to Wisconsin with our son and his wife which was planned before our camper shot craps.
I’ve watched him and reluctantly helped as he’s attempted to raise the roof ? lid? top? I don’t know what it’s called all I know is that I could just see it slipping on the wood blocks and crashing down into some portion of his body that’s between the bottom and the top.

Maybe it’s just me and I always see possible danger. He’s managed to live this long rigging things up in a way they weren’t supposed to be done so there’s really no reason to worry…right?
My mom was the 6th of eight children in her family. Only one of her siblings, her younger brother (the 7th) is still living and he’s 93 years old and still lives alone. He lost his first wife, the mother of my cousins, about twenty-five years ago and he later married a widowed fellow church member. They were married over twenty years when Alzheimer’s took her this last week.
On a good note, we celebrated my grandson’s high school graduation with a fun party. Originally, the party was supposed to take place at a pavilion in the park, but with the anticipated 100 ° temperature, we decided to move it inside.
My daughter-in-law is a great cook and prepared enough food to feed a small army, hot dogs, hamburgers, pulled pork, mac n cheese, watermelon, potato salad, and of course, cake.

The Fourth of July is one week away. After that, Christmas decorations will start showing up in the stores (at least at Hobby Lobby) so it’s strictly downhill from here on out. Lol.
