Mondays–V5E30–A Week of Birthday Celebrations

I just finished the first two weeks (almost) of my new decade and if these past days are any example of what’s to come, I’m good with it! I know last week I was very peeved and I let it show. I’m sorry about that, or as some Millenials would say “my bad.”

The last two weeks have been filled with a lot of family and fun.

My daughter-in-law and I attended a “mini-jeweled garden stake” class at Frisella’s Nursery and then had lunch at Good News Brewing in Defiance. We followed that lovely afternoon with a fancy dinner at Bugatti’s restaurant at our local Ameristar casino. Of course, “fancy” is relative, it meant we didn’t wear jeans. lol. I had wine.

My cousin, another daughter-in-law and I attended “Wine-o-Bingo” at Cedar Lake Cellars in Wright City. It’s a beautiful location and the bingo was a lot of fun and I learned some things about wine. I had wine.

The Great Hunter and I went to an afternoon matinee (what us old folks do) and watched the new “Twisters” movie. It’s just a little different take from the original 1996 Twister movie except I have to say the male star, Glen Powell, is a truly gorgeous man.

Another one of my sons hosted a birthday celebration for me at Quarry Lake Winery. I had such a good time with most of my children, grandchildren and  other relatives.

It was a beautiful, sunny afternoon with good food, good cake and good music. Oh, and I had wine.

And last but not least, the county fair. When I was growing up, the County fair was always the highlight of my summer. It was held about a mile from my house and we would be allowed to walk there and spend a whole day there. I don’t remember riding rides, but I do remember spending a lot of time in the 4-H pavilions, looking at all the handmade items (something I still enjoy) and wishing I could be in 4-H instead of Girl Scouts.

I went with my son, daughter-in-law and grandson. It cost $20 a person, a little steep if you aren’t going to ride the rides. I gave the attendant my $20 bill and he looked at me and said, “Are you are Senior? I don’t want to be rude but Seniors are only $5.00.” Score!  A perk of being old! I didn’t have any wine.

And to end the week, today is the Great Hunter and my 27th wedding anniversary. We spent it at home dog-sitting for my son and daughter-in-law’s geriatric half-Labrador and their pointy-ear, point-nose, bunny-killing Malinois. (Can you tell she’s a little on my shit list?)

This time next week I’ll be somewhere in Humbolt County, California, continuing my ?0th birthday celebration with my daughter. This year is also her milestone birthday, half a century, so we’re celebrating together. I’ll probably have wine and maybe…(Humbolt County along with  Mendocino and Trinity Counties, called the Emerald Triangle, used to be the largest illegal marijuana-producing area of the U.S.)

As for the Great Hunter, he’ll be home taking care of our dogs and cats. He’ll get his turn come hunting season.
