Mondays–V5E31g–Vacay day 7, Aug. 6–Back Home Again

Tuesday morning we were up and packed and out of the cabin by 8:00 a.m. One last view down the hill at Bayside Drive of the homes near the bay and the bay off to the left. We stopped for scones and bakery goodies for breakfast and then off we went on our five-hour drive to San Francisco.

My daughter drove the entire way and I got to enjoy the view and take photos as we drove. We got to the airport around 2:00 pm. She was exhausted. I felt so bad for her but rental companies only allow one driver unless you pay more for a second driver. Our flight to Salt Lake wasn’t until 5:30 so we had enough time before we boarded to be able to have a decent lunch. We knew it was now or never to grab something to eat because we only had 50 minutes between flights from Salt Lake to St. Louis.

The flight back to St. Louis was about 2 1/2 hours. About an hour into the flight, the sun started to set and it was amazing to see the horizon with the moon in the sky. We landed around 12:45 a.m. My grandson picked us up in his really big, tall pickup truck. I opened the door to the back seat and realized I didn’t know for sure how I was going to get in there; the door is about 3′ off the ground. Hmmm. I had to hoist myself up into it using the “oh sheet” handle.

I was in my own bed (with the Great Hunter and two dogs) by 2:00 a.m.
