It’s been quite a week for the first week of the new year. It snowed a ton on Sunday and the town was basically shut down. Many churches canceled Sunday services on Saturday in anticipation of the anticipated snow on Sunday. Schools have been out all week and this at the end of the two-week Christmas vacation (poor parents)! I only left my house once from Saturday to Wednesday. The Great Hunter wanted me to go with him to his friend’s house to pick up a snow blower…except it was too big to fit in the back of the Great Hunter’s truck with the camper shell on it. The Great Hunter has a snow thrower (I always call them snow blowers but technically, they are snow throwers cuz they throw the snow, not blow it. Duh, lol) but it had quit working.

He was determined that we needed to clean both sides of the driveway, including the area in front of the camper. I guess he thought that camper, which hasn’t moved in about nine months, would suddenly decide to travel down the driveway and need that part of the driveway cleared. He also thought we needed to clean the street in front of the mailbox so we could get mail (which we haven’t gotten all week). As is usually the case, the snow plow came through and left three-foot mounds in front of our mailbox. Lucky for us, although the snow was deep, it hadn’t gotten a chance to compact or freeze so it wasn’t too difficult to move.

I’ve totally become a homebody. I don’t want to leave my house unless I absolutely have to so the forced snow days were a blessing because no one expected me to go anywhere. I ventured outside only a couple times with the dogs (who loved the snow) and to feed my birdies (man those birds eat A LOT of food!) But now, the snow is plowed and most of the streets, if not cleared, are passable so it’s back to normal routine. I don’t have any excuses. Boo.
