Sometimes in the middle of the night when I’m supposed to be sleeping but the little hamster in my head is too busy running on its treadmill to let me do that, I think of the most cleaver and witty things to write about. The Great Hunter can generally sleep through anything, the dog puking, me getting up, turning on the light and cleaning the rug (because they always throw up on the rug) but I hesitate to turn on the light to write down the great thoughts I am having. Many times those great thoughts are gone by the time I get up.
Over five years ago, I made a list of places I wanted the Great Hunter and I to visit. My intention at that time was that every Monday we would visit one of those places and then I would write about it. Unfortunately, our Monday visits lasted only a short time before they were derailed by Covid and we never got back on track, so I write about other things.
Have I ever said how much I hate winter? I think it must have been something I inherited from my mom. Looking back over her old photo albums, there are very few photos of us kids enjoying the snow.
The older I get, the more I don’t want to step out the door when it gets below freezing. We’ve just come off a week of self-imposed house-boundery (is that a word?) but to me, it is always a good thing. I’ve spent this last week working on table favors for the quilt guild retreat I’m going to next week.

When I decided to make these embroidery creations, 56 in all, I didn’t think about the fact that each design would take about a half an hour to stitch out. After persevering, I got them finished yesterday. Now I just need to start putting together all the other stuff I will need to take with me. Funny, when I registered for the quilt retreat last September, it seemed like a good thing. Now when I realize that I basically have to take my entire sewing room and projects with me, not so much. I’m hoping for the best.
