Mondays–V6E36–Branson Redux 2025

The Great Hunter and I spent a few days in  Branson at the Calm Waters Resort this week. We went specifically to see the production of “David” at the Sight and Sound Theater. We’ve been to this theater several times in the past couple of years to see other productions; Noah, Jesus, Queen Esther and Moses. Sight and Sound is a 2,000-seat, state-of-the-art theater with a massive, 300-foot panoramic stage that wraps around the audience and has the ability to house sets four stories tall.

We drove down on Monday and visited the Titanic Museum and Sight and Sound Theater on Tuesday.

Wednesday we went to the Top of the Rock Lost Canyon Cave and Natural Trail. The Lost Canyon Cave and Nature Trail is part of Johnny Morris’s (founder of Bass Pro Shop) Top of the Rock which also includes an Ancient Ozarks Natural History Museum. We went through the museum a year or two ago so we decided not to do it again.

Top of the Rock Lost Canyon and Nature Trail is a 2.5-mile self-guided golf cart tour. The highlights of the tour are rock formations, waterfalls, and lake views. The winding trail also goes through a cave and has a scenic overlook skybridge.

Wednesday afternoon we decided to just hang out at the cabin. There is so much to do in Branson (and I don’t mean the Las Vegas styles shows–which we don’t do) but we’ve done a lot over several trips and everything is very expensive. Lunch on Tuesday cost over $50. We limited our meal expenses by bringing our own food to eat at the cabin. Unfortunately, one of the things we brought was a frozen pizza and much to our dismay, the cabin only had a two-burner stove top (one of which didn’t work), an antiquated microwave but no oven.

Thursday morning, we were up and out of the cabin before 7 a.m. to drive back home. We had to be home before noon to pick up the dogs to avoid another day’s charge. We’ve boarded the dogs once before and because Millie had reacted badly to the open wire kennels, we paid more for the “deluxe” commendations; separate rooms with a window and our choice of either music or television. (Who says our dogs are spoiled?) I never thought I’d ever pay almost as much to board the dogs as for three days as it was for us to stay in the cabin.
