Mondays–V6E50–Twas Three Weeks Before Christmas

Twas three weeks before Christmas when all through the house…not a wreath or a tree could be found in the house…

Yes, I’m procrastinating this year. I’ve always had an issue being the only person in the house (even when I had children at home) responsible for Christmas decorations.  I’ve said before, one of the best decorating ideas I ever had was paying someone else to decorate for me. I’m not having Christmas at my house again this year and with only the Great Hunter and me being the only two-legged creatures in the house, it sometimes seems somewhat of a…waste of time. Oops. My Grinch is coming out. Last year, I did put up a tree, but I only did minimal decorations. This year, it may be even less. Who knows. Either it goes up this weekend, or it may not go up at all.

I finally got the results of the bone marrow test I did last month and the good news is that I don’t have the more serious form of polycythemia, polycythemia vera. Still, the bad news is that digging into my bone marrow revealed something else. When I read the test results, it was like reading a foreign language. But, thank you to the god of all knowledge and its sidekick AI, I learned a lot about my diagnosis:

Monoclonal cytoplasmic lambda-restricted B-cell population, CD5 and CD10 negative (13% of the lymphocytes, 1.43% of total).
What….??? I did a lot of digging to understand what this is. The bottom line is that a

“monoclonal cytoplasmic lambda-restricted B-cell population that is negative for CD5 and CD10 indicates the presence of an abnormal group of identical B cells (a clone), which may be associated with a B-cell lymphoproliferative disorder (LPD), such as a type of non-Hodgkin lymphoma.”

That sounded really scary, so I kept digging. Basically, this finding means that I have the potential for developing some sort of blood cancer. When I saw the Hematologist this week, she said this was just something that we would need to keep an eye on and ordered additional blood tests to be done in three and six months.

Other than that, we had our first big snowfall of the season, six inches. Once again, it basically paralyzed the highways and caused massive delays on the roads. Thankfully, I was safe at home in my cozy, warm house but my son and his wife navigated their drive home from the city over several hours.

My Quilt Guild Christmas party, the last rehearsal for the Boars Head Festival at Immanuel, which starts next week, and oversleeping for my 8:30 a.m. exercise class, rounded out my week.

150-year-old stained glass window, balcony of Immanuel Lutheran Church, St. Charles, Missouri

My seat in the balcony at Immanuel for the Boar’s Head Festival beside the 150-year-old stained glass window in the balcony, and my view (or lack thereof) from there, but a perfect sentiment.
