Recently a friend of my husband’s asked me if I’d be able to enlarge this 3″x5″ faded color photograph from the 1970s. My first impression was I didn’t think I would be able to do that without the photograph pixelating out. In the past I’ve used the five percent incremental method of enlarging a photograph, but this time I decided to look at what other options may be available and I’m sure glad I did.
I found this Photoshop Essentials video on You Tube:
Resize Images without Losing Quality with Photoshop Smart Object
It worked like a charm. Since this method converts the photo to a smart object, I also used filters to color balance and level the photograph closely restoring it what it had been “back in the day”. It’s a little too magenta but my new laptop and my printer color aren’t calibrated yet, so unfortunately, what I see is not necessarily what I get.
