WW Lemon Donuts

I am a carbaholic which is really hard to be if you’re trying to maintain your daily Weight Watcher points. There are times I know that absolutely nothing will satisfy my craving except something with carbs; either crackers, or a cookie (or two), or a banana muffin or the WW Poptarts I posted about the other day.

Here’s another low point recipe using fat free Greek Yogurt:

Lemon Donuts

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups flour                                  19 pts
  • 1/2 cup no-calorie sweetener, I use Sucralose   (Here a debate comes in…the WW app says that this much sweetener has 10 points; however, each donut only has 1 1/2 tsps. of sweetener, and according to the WW app, this amount is 0 pts. So that’s what I’m going with.)
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 egg                                                      0 pts.
  • 3/4 cup nonfat Greek yogurt             0 pts.
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce     0 pts.
  • 1/2 cup Whole milk                              3 pts. (any kind of milk would do and will really not affect the total points, whole milk is just what we prefer)
  • 2 Tbl. lemon juice

Preheat oven to 350 °

I’m a one-bowl person. Everything goes in one bowl and I beat it until it is totally mixed together.

A couple years ago, a friend was getting rid of the last of her Pampered Chef items and just happened to have a twelve-donut pan. I got it for a bargain, so woohoo, I get a chance to use it.

I sprayed the pan with cooking spray and piped the batter into each donut round using an icing bag with an icing tip. I had enough left over to make two muffins.  I baked the donuts for 15 minutes and the muffins, because they were much thicker, I baked for a few more minutes.

After they cooled, I mixed lemon juice with sweetener (I didn’t measure anything) and just mixed the sweetener in until it had the consistency of thin icing and then dipped each donut into the icing.

By my calculations, each donut is about 1 1/2 points and since there are no half points in Weight Watchers, make it 2 points each (which the WW app agrees with.)

Final verdict. These are good especially since they are low points. The only thing I would change is to add another tablespoon of lemon juice to the batter. I think it needs it.

  1. I’m a carb lover myself and on the program,. my weaknesses are things that are greasy, crunchy, salty, chips, etc. – your recipe sounds great

    • It really is good. The donuts are small though. I’ve been paying for the program for almost 4 years now and although I haven’t really lost any weight in 3 years, I like to have the app and have the ability to go to a meeting if I want to, although like most WW locations, ours moved and rents a room somewhere else for very curtailed meeting times.

      • ours has been very limited, like what you described, ever since they came back after covid. I just began again last November after taking the covid years off and it’s good for now, but an ongoing struggle.
