Mondays–V7E26–All-Star!

Remember back to the summer of 1999? Doesn’t that sound like ages ago? That was back when my second-set sons were young and one of the biggest songs of the time was Smash Mouth’s “All Star”. The neighborhood children (I hate that all “children” are now called “kids”) gathered at my neighbor’s in-ground swimming pool with the radio blaring and enjoying the summer. And one of the most popular songs at the time was “All-Star”.

Hey now, you’re an all star
Get your game on, go play.
Hey now, you’re an rock star
Get the show on get paid.
All that glitters is gold
Only shooting stars break the mold.

Those lyrics have been running through my head all week, because my grandson was one of those “All Stars” and was chosen to play in his collegiate league All-Star Game.
He shared the catching duties with another player, so he only got one chance to bat, but he got a good, solid hit and made an awesome bullet throw to nail the player trying to steal second. Unfortunately, his team didn’t win.
And of course, the greatest enjoyment was spending the evening with my oldest son while he watched his son play ball.

We left the ballpark right when the sun was going down and we were greeted with this gorgeous view outside the park.

The Great Hunter and I also got to enjoy fireworks with my other son and his friends and family for the Fourth of July celebration.
