“Bienvenidos a nuestra boda.” Welcome to our Wedding. This was the greeting when we arrived at the wedding venue. The Great Hunter and I travelled last weekend to the Houston area for his nephew’s wedding. The bride is Hispanic and the wedding and reception were definitely flavored with Hispanic customs and music…and tacos and margaritas.

A friend of mine moved to Houston probably over forty years ago. I used to visit her every couple of years and of course, a trip to Galveston was always on the agenda.

She and I are still friends, and when we saw each other a couple of weeks ago, she asked if I remembered the night I asked her to stop on the overpass so I could take a picture of the buildings in downtown Houston. I thought of that when we drove about thirty miles north through Houston on our way to the hotel where we were staying.

I’m sure it looks much different now than it did back then, but still I got a kick out of seeing it. And on the way back to the airport on Sunday morning, this was the foggy view:

We had a great time at the wedding reception. We did a lot of dancing and drank (at least me) quite a bit of wine and a couple of margaritas, which, of course, made the dancing a little easier at least until the next morning.

I paid for my dancing the next day (and still to this day) by exacerbating an injury to my hip muscle which I did in exercise class a couple months ago. I got up Saturday morning and the pain was so intense I could hardly walk at all. The pain lessened throughout the day, but it is still sore today.

It was a beautiful night at the Union Ranch . We had such a good time celebrating with the Great Hunter’s family; family that we only get to see maybe once a year.
