Somehow time just escaped me. I wanted to post about my continuing preparations for my nephew’s baby shower, but with the pressures of school ( I am what they call a “returning learner”) and my part time job, I just never got around to it. We had a great time that afternoon; the weather cooperated and it was beautiful day. Everyone seemed to have a good time. Some people came in costume and some didn’t but it was a truly great day.

I used a bat template from HGTV to make bat decorations. My granddaughter and I traced the bats and then cut them out of black poster board. The bats started out on my front porch but the wind kept blowing them off, so I ended up hanging them inside. We decorated individual treat bags with dollar store stickers and filled them with Kahlua Pretzels, Chex Mix and Popcorn.
I ordered the sheet cake from our local grocery store, Midtowne Market and had it decorated using the pumpkin baby theme from the shower invitation. They make the greatest tasting cakes. Everyone I know orders their special occasion cakes from Midtowne Market.

I opted not to have games for the adults to play and instead made a pumpkin decorating station for the kids. It was a big hit and each child got to decorate a pumpkin to her (or his) liking.

Here my beautiful (no, I’m not prejudiced) granddaughter is showing off her pumpkin creation.

Probably the hit of the party was the Batman diaper cake my niece made for her brother. Awesome.

I found this a quick video from Parents magazine on how to make a diaper cake:
