I made this quilt specifically for my youngest son’s new girlfriend for her birthday. I knew it would go really well with their red couch. This is my original pattern, inspired by an American flag quilt “Yankee Doodle Dandy” I saw on statelytype.com. I used 4 1/2″ squares and half square triangles for the center. I machine quilted “stitch in the ditch” on the squares and triangles. I would have liked to have done some free motion quilting on the squares, but as my son lives on the other side of the US, I knew I had to get the quilt in the mail so it would arrive in time for her birthday.
The “Vanna White” holding the quilt is my long-suffering husband.
