I wrote a couple weeks ago about my trip to South Carolina to see my granddaughter graduate from Bootcamp. In two weeks, she will be graduating from AIT (Advanced Individual Training) in CBRN ( Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) weapons but this time she is only about three hours from home at Fort Leonard Wood.
A CBRN Officer is “part of the Army branch that specifically defends against the threat of biological and chemical weapons, ‘dirty bombs’ and Weapons of Mass Destruction.” Sounds like nothing I would like to do.
I’ve been to Fort Leonard Wood twice before; once for my grandson’s graduation in the pouring rain in 2021 and once ten years ago in January 2012 for the court-martial of Lt. Col. Keith A. Jackson.

Back in my former life as a detective in the Cyber Crime unit, one of my jobs was working undercover on the internet as an underage girl. Do you remember the television show “To Catch a Predator” where adult men would arrive at a sting house with the intent to have sex with an underage person? Well, this was sort of like that except, mostly, my undercover persona, a fourteen-year-old girl, was the recipient of visual “entertainment” by adult males, if you get my drift. It was amazing the number of men who wanted nothing more than to know they had an underage audience for their “demonstrations.”
Back then, we used public Yahoo chat rooms. My fourteen-year-old persona would “enter” the chatroom and her name would just appear as being a person in the room. I never initiated any conversation, nor would I chat in the room. I would only wait for someone to privately contact me, which usually didn’t take long. And that was how I came to be involved with Army Lt. Col. Keith Jackson. Over about six months’ time, I (or I should say, my fourteen-year-old persona) got to know the Lt. Col. very intimately, if you get my drift.
Fast forward to January 2012. I was subpoenaed by the Army for the court-martial of Lt. Col. Keith A. Jackson to take place January 10-12 at Fort Leonard Wood. I spent one day on the stand testifying to the videotaped interactions I had with the Colonel and in the end, he was found guilty of 18 of 20 charges of sexual exploitation of a child; dismissed from the military, stripped of his retirement, and had to register as a sex offender.
ARMY CHAPLAIN CONVICTED ON CHILD EXPLOITATION
A respected Army chaplain who thought he was sending graphic sexual videos of himself to a 14-year-old girl has been convicted of sexually exploiting a child. The “child” actually was a St. Charles County deputy sheriff who got about seven hours of video and hundreds of texts from Lieutenant Colonel Keith A. Jackson.
His court-martial recommends the equivalent of a dishonorable discharge, which will cost him about one-and-half million dollars in pensions and his right to vote. If the Army approves the judge’s recommendations, Jackson won’t serve any additional prison time. But he will have to be a registered sex offender. https://www.missourinet.com/2012/01/16/army-chaplain-convicted-on-child-exploitation/

NEWS OF THE FORCE
I found this “News of the Force” just the other day when I was looking for a photo of the Colonel and I had never read it before. It’s sad reading this account of Col. Jackson. I feel bad that he gave so much for our country but ultimately chose to ruin his life but I don’t at all believe he didn’t know what he was doing while he was doing it.
