Mondays–V5E21–The First of June

Wow, here it is, the first of June 1st, another sleepy, dusty delta day. (I’m dating myself, “Ode to Billy Joel”  Dusty Springfield, Capitol Records, 1967). Memorial Day, the start of summer was the Great Hunter’s birthday. He turned 79. We didn’t really celebrate, just went out to dinner with some of our children. The Great Hunter chose Red Lobster. I wouldn’t have chosen it, but since it was the Great Hunter’s birthday, he got to choose. I don’t know if our restaurant will survive its bankruptcy, but we most likely won’t be back.

All our girls in our son’s camper after a walk in the Cuivre River State Park

The hydraulics on our twenty-year-old pop-up camper shot craps again the other day and according to the camper place we’ve always taken it to, it can’t be fixed. Our son thinks otherwise, so it’s sitting in the driveway for the time being. We have a camping trip planned to Wisconsin with them the end of September, so we need to decide whether to buy or rent a camper. We’ve talked about buying an enclosed camper for several years, but honestly, I don’t have a lot of desire to haul a camper around the country like our son thinks we should.  They do…but they are 40 years younger than we are. Stay tuned for that.

I’ve finished a quilt top for my quilt guild’s show in November. The jury is still out on it. I don’t love it, but hopefully, it will grow on me.

My grandson in his new “storm trooper” catcher’s gear

My third grandchild graduates from high school today. Another milestone in his and my life.

My garden has been growing since I fenced it in with chicken wire. My zucchini is doing well. I don’t know what I will do with it after I actually have zucchini, the only thing I’ve ever made is zucchini bread. We shall see.

Just another sleepy, dusty delta week in the lives of the Great Hunter and his bride.
