Mondays–V7E38–Ahhh Pets

The Great Hunter and I completed our two-week odyssey of caring for our son and daughter-in-law’s three dogs, two cats, six ducks, eight chickens and one turtle while they were on vacation in England. It was definitely a busy (and noisy) time. Each time one of the dogs started barking, the other four joined in. A solicitor from AT&T knocked on the door and the dogs went nuts. I could see him through the sidelight window and just waved him away. Like, sure, I’m going to open the door when four dogs are behind it barking like crazy.

Even the old lady who barely gets around, made sure that she was heard along with the rest.

I feel like I’m just now recuperating.

Our Dolly somehow injured her paw during playtime with the other dogs out in the yard. We don’t know how she did it; she didn’t yelp; we only noticed she was limping. By the next morning, she was completely non-weight-bearing  and I could tell it looked a little swollen. We decided to take her to the emergency vet and luckily, both the dogs are covered by pet insurance.

To be able to fully examine her and take X-rays, she was sedated. Even though the X-ray looked to me like she had broken several of her toes, the veterinarian assured me that the X-Ray was normal and it was just the shape of her toes.

The diagnosis was just some type of soft-tissue injury and she was given an anti-inflammatory and pain medication. A week later and she is still limping so we took her to her vet. She prescribed more pain meds and sedation medication to try and keep her off the foot. She’s not limping as much now, but she’s definitely not 100%.

Baby Kitty is happy that she can now have full run of the house again and the biggest thing going on with her is trying to keep her eating only the EXPENSIVE urinary food and not Mama Kitty’s food and vise-versa.

Ahhh. Pets.
